Sounds In Sync recently introduced version 5 of EdiLoad, their Emmy Award winning software for sound editors. EdiLoad provides the functionality to carry out a number of time saving tasks such as assembling location WAV files and re-conforming a Pro Tools session when picture changes occur. Version 5 introduced a number of new features, one of which is the Assembly Window which makes assembling location WAV files quick and easy. A Pro Tools session file can even be exported from this window. We covered this, along with EdiLoad’s other new features in this article.The feature of EdiLoad which I personally find the most useful to my own workflow is the re-conform function. When working on a post-production mix, it’s common for changes to the video edit to be made after you’ve already started working on the audio. This can be annoying because changes to the edit of course directly affect the timing of your audio. Clips may have been moved, trimmed, removed or new content may have been added. Aside from starting work on the audio from scratch, the solution when edit changes occur is to re-conform your audio to match the new edits. Doing this manually might be OK for a very short piece, but for a feature film it’s practically impossible.In the video below I demonstrate the process of re-conforming a Pro Tools session to match a new picture edit.
